Ways to effectively give directions to your kids to help them understand and follow.
Training children to follow instructions from parents
Just how do we make our kids listen to us and do what we want them to do? Have you ever get frustrated with your children when they just won't listen to what you say? You may ask them to behave in one way and the next moment, they are doing things contrary to what you said to do. Sometimes, it seems like there is an invisible barrier between parents and their children and they just can't seem to hear or understand what the parents need them to do. We have a few useful pointers to kick start this sharing but please, if you had the above experience or if you have any tips to share, we would really like to hear from you.
Catch their attention. Don't shout or yell. Grab hold of their attention before giving them the instructions.
Be specific when giving directions. Don't beat around the bush. Use simple words.
Focus on what you want them to do and not what you don't want them to do.
Appreciate and encourage when the child obey and follow your instruction. Reinforce the good behavior.
Say what you mean and do what you said. If you had warned the child of the consequences, be ready to enforce it.
All of my questions settled-thanks!
