Understanding Bedwetting problems in young children
Bedwetting during childhood is a urologic complaint whereby children wet their bed in their sleep frequently, unable to control their urinary system. When a child who is old enough to have bladder control urinates accidentally while sleeping, it's called nocturnal enuresis.
So, is bedwetting common? The problem of bedwetting, or nocturnal enuresis, is rather common among children of certain age groups and is more often seen in boys than girls. One of the possible side effects that come with the problem of bedwetting is that a child may suffer from damaged self esteem. Many parents who have children with this problem wonder if it can be solved. Well, fortunately, it is possible to solve the problem in most cases without medication although in some special cases, medical assistance might be required. In fact, most children who wet their beds will outgrow it.
Some misconceptions about the problem are like example, people often speculate that laziness might be the cause for wet bedding problems and that perhaps the child may be acting out to get things his way. In most case, these are not true. So, what are some possible causes of bedwetting in children? Slower maturation of bladder control or in some cases, genetics, can be the cause of bedwetting in children. Deep sleep is also a possible cause. If a child is sleeping very soundly, possibly after a day of vigorous play, he may not be aware of the need to urinate. One of the possible solutions to stop bedwetting in children is by using a Bedwetting alarm. Medication can also help eliminate the problem of bedwetting.
