Laughter To Enhance Parent Child Bonding

People are naturally attracted to happy, funny individuals and laughter can bring optimism and a more positive attitude. Laughter can even reduce pain. It triggers a host of healthy changes in your brain and body. Scientists have discovered that laughter can do as much good for your body as going for a run.

The natural social behaviour in children is playful behaviour. Children laugh hundreds of times per day, but as adults we can sometimes go through an entire day without sharing a heartfelt laugh. When children are playing, laughter indicates that make-believe aggression is just fun and not for real. This is an important way in which children form positive emotional bonds and learn new social skills.

A sense of humour is a positive and dynamic life skill that can helps children function more effectively in their daily lives. Humour is contagious. You can discover that children love it when you think they are funny. However, young children need to know that you are laughing along with them and not at them. We also need to explain to our children and help them understand how humour is not something to be used to tease or hurt others.
