Are bad habits in children inborn?
We often hear parents, care givers or even teachers saying things like, "This child is born clever," or "he has been so hot tempered since he was born." Often, they are referring to the child's personality, intelligence, behavior, etc. and attribute the characteristics to being innate.
It is believed that while genetic and physiological factors may be the underlying causes affecting early childhood mental conditions, educational and environmental conditions are the deciding factors for the kind of impact on a child in the areas of his psychological development as he grows up.
Through observation, it is noted that most kinds of bad behaviors in children are not formed after they start schooling but rather, the family environment and the methods used by the parents to teach their children may have direct relationships to the problems.
