Importance Of The Role As A Father
Being a father can be easy, but being a good father taking the role in being actively involved in child nurturing process can be a challenge to many dads.
Mothers are often the care-givers and have strong bonds with their children. Fathers, on the other hand, typically and traditionally in most cultures, focus mainly on being the provider for the family.
Recently, there has been an increase in awareness that the role as father goes beyond more than just someone who puts bread and butter on the table. The role as a father involves being a mentor for the child and needs to be involved actively in their children's overall development and to cultivate father-child bonding.
In some countries like Singapore, government ministries are even working hand in hand with companies and organizations to encourage their staff to take part in activities which seek to inspire dads in becoming more aware of the significance of their fatherly roles. The activities aim at inspiring and involving fathers to become good influencers in their children's lives and to commit to be good fathers and role models to their children. Dads are also encouraged to spend time with their children so as to transform their lives.
An example of such an activity is the "Back to School with Dad" event which is an initiative supported by Dads for Life and the National Family Council in Singapore. This event encourages fathers to take their school-going children to and from school during the first week of school term.

Many companies and organizations support this event by extending time off to fathers for taking their children to school and back on their first week in school. For fathers whose children attend schools with a different school term schedule, time off are also extended during the first week of the school term for the year.
All these reflect the growing awareness for the importance of the role of being the Daddy.
