Build a foundation of love, trust and respect
Take a closer look at your daily interactions with your children and do a family evaluation by asking ourselves:
* Have I have a good conversation with my child?
* Have we prayed together?
* Have we hugged?
* Have we laughed together?
* Did we eat at least one meal together?
Is our primary communication message to them “I love you, I trust you, and I respect you.”? When children are confident that they are loved, trusted, and respected by their parents, they will tend to thrive in their lives and respond overall in a much more pleasant way.
How do we communicate this message to our children?
* Give them what they want most from you - your time. It’s much more effective to give small slots of quality time every day than to spend a quality day once a month.
* Give them your ear. Children thrive when they have someone who really listens to them. It’s not as crucial to give advice and solve problems as it is to just listen.
* Praise and encourage your children daily. Look for reasons and even every little actions to give your children positive feedback.
