Gentle Assurances

In my previous post, I mentioned about my sudden thirst to learn more about my problem, the “impossible brick wall” standing in my way in reaching out to my son. In those moments, there was a mixture of feelings. Anguish, helplessness, a sense of desperate need to find the underlying cause to the mystery of what exactly is going on in his mind. In my search, I found two genuinely comforting assurances and I would like to share them with you.

• Firstly, I was not alone. I found that almost all the parents with teenage children I had come across were having the same anxiety, the same frustration, and even almost the same complains about their teenage rebels. This translates into a shared suffering and that whatever the reason for the painful experiences between me and my son, I am not the odd one out because of something that I had done uniquely wrong.

• Secondly, it is not an impossible mission. Something can be done about it. “There is light at the end of the tunnel” if you will. A happy outcome IS POSSIBLE. The very fact that you have read this so far shows that you care about this issue; be it for your own family, to learn how to help someone else or simply as a known topic on its own.

If you are like me searching for an answer, I urge you to never give up. I had experienced the turmoil, I had searched and now I have found. I know you will too and I hope to be of help.

In my coming posts, I look forward to sharing with you some practical steps to take, to start you on the journey to reconciliation.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” - Matt 7:7

God Bless
